Farrand On Film - Off World Tees

Farrand On Film

We all have a lot of time to kill right now, what with us being stuck in a lonely space station and you being stuck indoors. So we've had plenty of time to kill recently and what better way that listening to great podcasts?

It goes without saying that we love great movies here at Off World, and we're very happy to announce that we've now joined forces with the excellent movie podcast FARRAND ON FILM. So without further ado, let me hand over to the man himself:

Farrand On Film

Hello all, I’m Adam Farrand and I’d like to introduce you to my educational film podcast, Farrand On Film.

I launched Farrand On Film during the first national lockdown in 2020 as a response to teaching from home and in an attempt to get as much content as possible to my students.

I have recorded full film commentaries and shorter ‘Required Learning’ podcasts for Rebel Without A Cause, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Whiplash, District 9, Tsotsi and Attack The Block all of which support my students (and others) with their revision for their GCSE exams.

Farrand On Film now serves a multifaceted purpose as both an online/easily accessible resource for GCSE Film Studies students and as a celebration of cinema as my guests & I share our views, opinions & anecdotes on the best (and worst!) of cinema history.

I’ve been fortunate enough to record a couple of episodes with film critic James King as well as interviewing the director and star of the documentary Never Be Done: The Richard Glen Lett Story.

I’m also fortunate enough to have a group of podcast ‘regulars’ who join me to share their views on film franchises, directors, actors and their top ten film lists from a variety of different areas including 1980s, Christmas and Horror.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in listening to, you can find Farrand On Film at all podcast outlets including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and Spotify! Please subscribe to and rate the podcast where you can!

About Me:

I currently work as Subject Lead for Film Studies and Careers Leader at Oasis Academy Oldham.

Outside of school, I am Dad to Ruby, Husband to Amy and I enjoy watching wrestling, doing jigsaws and building Lego sets (if I can find any cheap enough!).

I enjoy Thrillers, mysteries and films that grip you from the outset. My favourite film is The Dark Knight but I have a real soft spot for Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters, The Lion King, Home Alone and Mrs. Doubtfire - as you may hear on the podcast!

Future:

I’m looking forward to releasing episodes such as Auteur: Taika Waititi (with film critic Clarisse Loughrey), Auteur: Kathryn Bigelow (with Dr. Stacey Abbott, author of the BFI Film Classics on Near Dark) as well as Franchise episodes on Star Wars & Harry Potter and of course the 1st Anniversary special In March.

I’d just like to thank all of the team at Off World Tees for their sponsorship/collaboration – I love their designs and I’m sure we’ll continue to support each other for the foreseeable!
